Taryn's Bio: Taryn has been a studio assistant at the studio for almost a year! Before coming to the studio Taryn studied English Lit, Photojournalism and Human Development at UNC. Taryn loves the tangible introspective process that is working with ceramics and is so excited to help other people learn this art form. | ![]() |
Jennifer Blakeslee
Jen's Bio: Jen is a North Carolina based artist, and arts educator primarily working in clay, but also practiced in printmaking and many forms of craft working. She draws her background in Archaeology and Conservation with emphasis on material culture to create functional and sculptural ceramics. Natural elements and texture and mixed media techniques are elements that she uses to create unique work. She is mostly self-taught, but has over 20 years experience in ceramics and has studied and worked with the likes ofNina Hole, Barbara McKenzie, John Britt, Gabriel Kline and Cynthia Lee. She teaches art classes and private lessons at various studios, including her own, where she has both ceramic and printmaking studios. Jen is an AMS certified Montessori teacher and applies this methodology to teaching the arts. | ![]() |
Leah Dudley
Leah's bio: Leah is a Texas-born, Georgia-raised ceramicist. She moved to Chapel Hill in the Fall of 2020 to obtain her masters in Linguistics from UNC. She has always been interested in the fine arts, and began her pottery journey in 2015. She most enjoys throwing on the wheel and experimenting with glaze combinations. | ![]() |
Narga Kudumu-Clavell
Narga's Bio: Narga began her ceramic journey at College of the Atlantic in 2018 where she fell in love with the art and versatility of clay. Narga loves that clay can go as close or far as your imagination will take it. She enjoys exploring new techniques while developing her artistic style. | ![]() |
Levi Yakubu
Levi's Bio: Levi is a graduate of Dordt University in Fine Arts Studio with an emphasis in ceramics. He is a 5th generation potter who grew up in Nigeria surrounded by mentors like his father who have influenced his work today. He currently resides in Durham, North Carolina with his wife, where he is teaching and creating. Yakubu draws upon his rich cultural background to create artwork that speaks to cultural identity and encourages dialogue around difficult issues. In the future, he hopes to get his MFA and become a fulltime artist. | ![]() |
