This year is the year that I finally complete 100 vessels! Intentions have been set in the past and usually fizzled out around 50, but I was just reinspired by a recent Pottery Making Illustrated article.
In 2025, I am looking for a clay crew of 9 who want to explore surface and up their throwing game! If this seems like something that interests you keep reading.
How does this work you may be wondering:) For me it is mostly accountability and feedback, and for those who might want to join me on this journey it's a bit more depending on your pottery set up. Here's the breakdown:
The perimeters that I am setting include:
- every vessel needs to be 1 pound or less
- explore a different technique or design on each vessel
- clay body can vary
- document your process
- 100 vessels must be completed
- date range is Jan 25th-Nov 21st (300 days, you can have some wiggle room if needed)
What is included if I decide to take the plunge:
- Monthly meet up will be held either the last Friday night of the month or the last Saturday morning of the month to critique and share
- 100 pounds of clay
- All firings, glazes, slips, underglazes, etc.
- 1 open studio pass per week if needed equaling 50 open studio passes
- Emailing with me if needed
I realize that this is a commitment, but in the end the benefit will absolutely be worthwhile.
FAQS:
- What if you start and then decide to stop? Well let's hope that doesn't happen, but if it does you can cancel your subscription with 30 days notice and finish out your pieces that are in process if you'd like
- What if I have my own studio? You can definitely benefit from a community of potters meeting once a month and a goal, join us by only paying for monthly meet ups.
- What if I just need to fire my pieces and use the studio to glaze and decorate? Same as above, everything will be broken down into individual prices.
- What if I am already in a class and just don't have time for more open studios? You can work on these pieces in class if you'd like, it only ends up being 10 pots a month or about 2-3 pots a week!
- What if I'm not already a member or student at the studio? I have 3 spaces that just opened for new members, you would just have to meet with me to go over guidelines and have pottery experience
- What if I am not local? If we have anyone that wants to join who is not local we can hold virtual meetings.

300 days of everything included will be monthly payments of $145 through an acuity subscription.
Cost breakdown if you'd like to piece it together and work from home or only join for meet up:
approximately 43 open studio passes- $920, 6-passes $115 each(if you just need the studio for glazing/decorating)
100 pounds of clay- $160
approximate firing fees(includes all glazes/materials) for 100 vessels- $150
instructor/studio time for critiques- $75/hour for private X 10 hours= $750, $30/person/hour for classes X 10 hours= $300
