Chanoyu: A Demonstration of the Japanese Tea Ceremony

Over the last seven hundred years in Japan, the procedure for making and sharing a bowl of powdered tea, or matcha, has been honed to an elegant and mindful process.  Guests will have the opportunity to experience chanoyu, this traditional practice of the Japanese tea ceremony.  Laurie Fais, the host for the workshop, will demonstrate the making of the tea, and guests will enjoy a bowl of matcha accompanied by a traditional Japanese sweet. Laurie has studied tea ceremony for more than twenty years in Japan and North America, and has an instructor level certificate in the Omotesenke school of chanoyu.  Guests need no prior experience or knowledge!  Maximum 5 guests at a sitting. This event will be approximately 30-40 minutes.
