A morning session and afternoon session will be offered to allow for better flow and less down time, please leave time in your schedule for the unexpected:) You are welcome to stay for the whole event, but expect to fire your pieces during your session. Each session can have 4 participants, each participant can fire up to 8 pieces depending on dimensions of the pieces. 10 pounds of Raku clay and raku glazes are included.
Pieces need to be bisque fired prior to the event, so please plan accordingly. Glazing pieces at least a day prior is preferred. Glazes and terra sigillata will be available in the studio 2 weeks before the raku firing. The firing techniques that will be available are basic reduction raku, horsehair, feathers, and sugar, and obvara.
Please keep in mind Raku fired pieces are NOT food safe or water tight due to the firing process.
Please bring a chair, water, and a snack if needed. Wear proper attire(cotton long pants and shirt) and follow all other studio safety guidelines.
